Abstract

Travelogue has come over a long a way and evolved into a distinct genre in its literary journey. Travelogue explores not only the geography and topography of a particular area but also gives a wealth of information about the culture, values and traditions of local population. Pashto language like its other local and global counterparts has travelogues that have enriched the treasure trove of its literature. Swat Nama of Khushal Khan written in verse is one such inaugural milestone in this expedition. Likewise Muhammad Nawaz Tahir is the first to sail his ship in the extensive waters of Pashto travelogue in Malakand. This paper explores the voyage of Pashto Travelogue (some published and certain unpublished) in Malakand in a terse but comprehensive manner. This surely will benefit even the least avid readers of Pashto literature.
